Soon it will be X-mas again and we'll be having nice sumptuous dinners, parties and presents galore.
Well, as you all know, unfortunately this is not so for many people who I live amongst here in Belmont, Jamaica. Most kids here have never seen a Christmas present unless it is a pair of new shoes for school or a new pants.
This is why I've decided to get a big Pickney (kids) Fun Day organized in our street with lots of games and tournaments to play, prizes to win, coming together to transform our street not only into a safer one (with sleeping police - speed bumps) but one which is fun to walk & talk about, planting coconut trees and flowers and do some StreetArt.
And I'd like to get all the youths involved in the action too!
We wanna sell HEALTHY (Rasta) FOOD and drinks inna different style (Rasta, work your Blenda).
We want information booths or hang up posters about organic farming, nutrition for school children, disposing and burning of garbage etc. and put up garbage bins and paint them.But most important: WE WANNA HAVE FUN TOGETHER AND CREATE SOMETHING TO LAST LONGER THAN A DAY!!! Sounds good?
Yah mon, definitely!
Of course we'll need to buy lots of materials and prizes etc. to put these ideas into reality and that's why I'm asking YOU ALL to become sponsors, no matter how big or small your donation may be. It's for a good cause and you'll receive 'nuff smiling faces by mail.Whatever amount of money we'll make through sales and donations we want to use for a permanent playground or something else for the kids here in this street (still to be decided).

MANON ET GUY LÉPINE, artistes de Rawdon, nous présenteront leurs oeuvres respectives en peinture et vitrail les 11 et 12 octobre prochains au Centre Communautaire Metcalfe.

En couleurs, transparence et mouvement, vous serez charmé par les toiles et vitraux proposés mais aussi par la chaleureuse et sympatique présence des artistes.

L'exposition d'Art Postal connait un succès planétaire ! À ce jour, 61 artistes venant de partout au monde ont envoyé plus de 100 cartes postales ! Date limite pour envoyer quelque chose est le 19 septembre.
Venez les regarder et faire un voyage par la même occasion les 20 et 21 septembre entre 11 h et 16 h au 3597 rue Metcalfe à Rawdon.

The Mail Art event is a planetary success with 61 artists and over 100 pieces. Deadline to send a gift is September 19.

L'Année en Art a été créer en 2006 afin de promouvoir les artistes et artisans de la région de Lanaudière et de l'extérieur. Pour la saison 2008-2009, L'Année en Art emménage au Centre Communautaire Metcalfe au centre de la municipalité de Rawdon. L'Année en Art est un moyen de diffusion autogéré et autonome qui permet à tous les artistes et artisans d'exposer, de vendre leurs créations et de faire la promotion de leurs activités extra-artistiques tels qu' ateliers, cours, etc... De plus, L'Année en Art peut servir de tremplin aux artistes qui veulent présenter une exposition indépendante ou des conférences axées sur les arts. Les frais de participations aux expositions de L'Année en Art sont de 30$ sans commissions sur vos ventes. Pour organiser une exposition indépendante les frais sont aussi de 30$ mais des frais d'administration de 20% du total des ventes sont ajouté.

A YEAR IN ART was created in 2006 as a way to promote the artists and artisans of the Lanaudière region and beyond. A Year in Art is a completely independant mean of art promotion that allows the artists to show their works but also sell and promote their own art-business such as classes and workshops. Also, A Year in Art can also help someone who wants to do an independant exhibit or organize conferences on artistic themes. To participate in one of A Year in Art shows will cost 30$ with no commissions. The fees to organize an independant exhibit is 30 $ but a 20% administation fee will be taken from the sales.
